In the late 60's and on into the mid 70's every AFB I was stationed at had Pedro for aircraft emergencies.. If I remember right they always carried a bottle of fire retardant and flew either beside or above the emergency.

very cool to see all the planes i built as a kid from kits. the bf109 sounded the the most powerful of the single engine fighters.

Very well done cinematography! High quality but still retains a natural "being there" feel. However, what stands out most is the amazing audio quality! You can really hear the engines on those low passes! 💯

Planes of Fame Air Museum has a A26 that is a Korean War veteran. It was later used as a fire bomber and as a river sander in Alaska. They loaded the tank with a mixture of coal and sand and used it to control the ice breakup in the spring on the rivers. The coal would attract the heat to melt the ice. Sadly the aircraft in storage and not currently flying.
